About

Barry Quatermass

photographer

I retired in 2015, and now have the opportunity to spend more time on the hobby I enjoy so much.

My Dad gave me my first camera when I was 9 years old and from then on I was hooked on photography. However, it wasn't until the digital era that I was able to consider, or express my hobby, as an art form.

My photographer heroes include; Joe McNally, David Noton and Joe Cornish, two of whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.

If I had to pick one type of photography to be my favourite, it would be landscape, probably because I enjoy the peace, tranquillity and beauty that the countryside can offer, and also the stunning vistas to be witnessed at a sunset or sunrise. Thankfully, I don’t have to choose just one - as I have gained (and hopefully given), equal pleasure from being behind the camera at weddings, in places of work, in bird hides and any number of different festivals and sporting events.

Here goes, there can be no excuses now...
